Baseball Recap: Martin Takes a Loss

Martin lost to Rio Grande City on Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tigers fell just short of the Rattlers by a score of 3-2. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alejandro Labra was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Martin: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Frankie Cantu, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Martin's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9-1. As for Rio Grande City, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5.

Martin didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-2 win against Nixon on the 31st. As for Rio Grande City, they have also already played their next matchup, a 19-0 victory against Juarez-Lincoln on the 31st.
