Basketball Recap: Grace Academy Piles Up the Points Against St. Mary's

A well-balanced attack led Grace Academy over St. Mary in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Grace Academy blew the St. Mary's Rams out of the water with a 62-19 final score. Grace Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 28 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Canyon Maxwell, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Samuel Moore was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five boards and three blocks.

Grace Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ty Zimmerhanzel, who posted 11 points. That was a full 57.9% of St. Mary's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kolbe Barta, who had six points.

Grace Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for St. Mary's, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Grace Academy will challenge Providence Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Providence Prep's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches. As for St. Mary's, they will square off against Memorial Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
