Softball Game Preview: Glenvar Highlanders vs. Northside Vikings

The Glenvar Highlanders are taking a road trip to square off against the Northside Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Glenvar had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Liberty on Monday. The Highlanders' pitchers stepped up to hand the Minutemen a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Highlanders, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous five contest, Northside brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They blew past Fleming 19-3 on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Glenvar has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Northside, their win bumped their record up to 3-15.

Glenvar skirted past Northside 7-6 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highlanders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
