Basketball Recap: Katelyn Sullivan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Simeon over Saint Ignatius College Prep

Simeon was the 59-30 winner over Saint Ignatius College Prep when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Simeon Wolverines took a hard 49-33 fall against the Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Wolfpack are ranked tenth).

Simeon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katelyn Sullivan, who posted 13 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dijona Berrien, who scored nine points and five boards.

Simeon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Simeon and East St. Louis will face off at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday without much rest having both just played. Simeon is facing East St. Louis at the right time seeing as East St. Louis is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, they will take on Peoria Notre Dame at 12:15 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Saint Ignatius College Prep comes in on four and Peoria Notre Dame on 11.
