Trevor Keels named 2020-21 MaxPreps Virginia High School Basketball Player of the Year

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in
high school basketball. America's source for high school sports continues
the tradition to close out the 2020-21 season by naming the top player in
each state. Selections are based on team success and individual
excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.
Trevor Keels of
Paul VI (Chantilly, Va.)
is the 2020-21 MaxPreps Virginia High School Basketball Player of
the Year. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound senior led the Panthers to a 7-4 record and second place finish in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference.
In a season shortened by the ongoing pandemic, Keels averaged 28.7 points, 9.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 3.8 steals per contest while recording six triple-doubles. Paul VI is ranked No. 22 nationally in this week's MaxPreps Top 25.
Keels piled up finished his prep career with 1,803 points, carrying a career average of 19.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per outing.
Keels is regarded as the No. 20 prospect in the Class of 2021 according to 247Sports. He was named a McDonald's All-American last month. Duke, Kentucky, Villanova and Virginia are among the leaders in his recruitment.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, scheduled to be released April 13.
