Basketball Recap: Towns County Comes Up Short

Towns County lost against Rabun County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Towns County Indians were dealt a 105-64 defeat at the hands of the Rabun County Wildcats. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (59), the Indians still had to take the loss.

It was another big night for Huey Blalock, who shot 6-for-11 from long range and dropped a double-double on 33 points and 11 assists for Rabun County. That's the most points Blalock has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayes Free, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Towns County and nudges their season record down to 8-8. As for Rabun County, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3.

Towns County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Washington-Wilkes at 8:30 p.m. on January 10th. As for Rabun County, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Rabun County Wildcats take on the Commerce Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Rabun County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
