Basketball Recap: Bailey Sellman and Kylie Kumpf Secure Win for Hemingford

Hemingford hadn't done well against Bayard recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hemingford Bobcats snuck past the Bayard Tigers with a 33-29 win. This was a revenge game for the Bobcats: when they faced off against the Tigers back in January, they had to take a 60-57 loss.

Leading Hemingford to victory were Kylie Kumpf and Bailey Sellman. Kumpf posted nine points and five rebounds, while Sellman put up four points along with six boards and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Kumpf a new career-high in field goal percentage (67%).

Despite the defeat, Bayard saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jayde McAllister had a point in addition to nine rebounds and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for McAllister. Another player making a difference was Shayleigh West, who earned eight points along with six boards and three steals.

Hemingford's victory bumped their record up to 3-17. As for Bayard, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Hemingford has already played their next match, a 49-25 loss against Mitchell on the 8th. As for Bayard, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-32 defeat against South Platte on the 13th.
