Basketball Game Preview: Lake George Lakers vs. Greenwich Witches

The Lake George Lakers will head out on the road to face off against the Greenwich Witches at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lake George is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 48-40 win over Mayfield.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake George to victory, but perhaps none more so than Morgan Stanco, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. What's more, Stanco posted two assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Madyson Brennan was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 12 boards.

Lake George smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 37 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Greenwich put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons, posting an 88-24 victory. Given the Witches' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th in New York, while the Golden Knights are ranked 752nd in New York), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Greenwich pushed their record up to 21-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points over those games. As for Lake George, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.

Lake George took their win against Greenwich in their previous matchup back in March of 2015 by a conclusive 52-32. Will Lake George repeat their success, or does Greenwich have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
