Basketball Recap: Middle Early College Kats vs. East Panthers

The Middle Early College Kats had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They strolled past East with points to spare, taking the game 75-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

When it comes to explaining why East lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jussean Pearsall. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Pearsall is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhondell Johnson, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Middle Early College's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2. As for East, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing International Prep at Grover the next time they take the court. Middle Early College will head out to face the Presidents at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Panthers will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
