Softball Recap: Larkin Find Success

Larkin's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They never let the Hoffman Estates Hawks get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Mackenzie Wemken's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Kaitlyn Neubert was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Mya Bermudez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Larkin's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Hoffman Estates, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Larkin will head out to face off against Bartlett at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.83 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hoffman Estates, they will head out on the road to take on Wheeling at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.6 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
