Softball Recap: Elkhorn Wins Going Away Against Badger

After losing to Badger the last time they met, Elkhorn decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Elks were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Badgers on Monday.

Veronica Siegler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Brynn Hagan and Ella Uhlenhake did most of the damage at the plate: Hagan went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Uhlenhake went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most hits Uhlenhake has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Jacobson, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Elkhorn's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Badger, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Coming up, Elkhorn will welcome Sun Prairie East at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Elks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Badger, they will head out to face off against Delavan-Darien at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Badgers are facing the Comets at the right time seeing as the Comets are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
