Baseball Recap: Kickapoo Takes a Loss

Kickapoo extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-7 in the process. They came up short against the Seneca Indians, falling 14-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 last Monday.

As for Seneca, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Seneca's part, Owen Oppriecht and Dawson Davidson made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Oppriecht tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Davidson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Oppriecht went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base, while Davidson went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and one double.

In other batting news, Gage Wall was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Swiggum, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Kickapoo will face off against rival Ithaca at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Seneca is set to square off against their familiar foe North Crawford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 1.4, the Trojans 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
