Volleyball Recap: Mountain Brook Spartans vs. Pelham Panthers
If Mountain Brook was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Oak Mountain last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mountain Brook Spartans took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pelham Panthers on Saturday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-20.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ella Kate Wright, who had ten digs.
Pelham can attribute much of their success to Kamryn Rouveyrol, who had 12 digs and three aces. Rouveyrol is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last eight games she's played dating back to last season.
Mountain Brook has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season. As for Pelham, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season.
Mountain Brook didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Hazel Green on the 28th. Pelham has also already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Hartselle on the 28th.
