Softball Recap: Galesburg-Augusta's Win Ends Ten-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Galesburg-Augusta). They came out on top against the Hackett Catholic Prep Fighting Irish by a score of 18-13 on Friday. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 19-4 win the Fighting Irish walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Emily Coleman was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Rhyann Wilson was another key player, going 3-for-6 with two doubles, one triple, and one stolen base.

Galesburg-Augusta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .415. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Galesburg-Augusta's victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-10. As for Hackett Catholic Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Galesburg-Augusta will challenge Saugatuck at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hackett Catholic Prep, they will square off against Constantine at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season.
