Baseball Game Preview: Chino Cowboys vs. Ontario Jaguars

For the second straight game, Chino will face off against Ontario. The Cowboys will venture away from home to take on the Jaguars at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Chino is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Chino's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Ontario as they made off with a 12-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won seven in a row.

Grant Kuhns Vasquez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matthew Gomez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Thomas Liu II also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Chino always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Chino pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ontario, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.
