Soccer Game Preview: Bonita Springs vs. Lely

The Bonita Springs Bullsharks will take on the Lely Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bonita Springs' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Bonita Springs lost 9-1 to Palmetto Ridge on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Bullsharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 399th, while the Bears are ranked 170th).

Meanwhile, Lely kept a clean sheet against Cypress Lake on Friday. They blew past the Panthers 3-0.

Aoife Bowe and Stassy Edouard scored all three of Lely's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 21 goals.

Lely is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four matchups. As for Bonita Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10-1.

Bonita Springs suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Lely when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Can Bonita Springs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
