The Woodcreek Timberwolves will venture away from home to face off against the Rio Americano Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Woodcreek has six straight wins, Rio Americano has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, Woodcreek needed a bit of extra time to put away Inderkum. They won by a run and slipped past the Tigers 3-2.
Maryn Macneil was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over eight innings pitched. Macneil was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nicole Fonti, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Reddell, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Woodcreek hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Rio Americano fell victim to Ponderosa and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Bruins, falling 17-0.
Rio Americano saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was T Callas, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Woodcreek's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Rio Americano, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.
Rio Americano's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Woodcreek has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Rio Americano, though, as they've been averaging 11.6 hits. Given Woodcreek's sizable advantage in that area, the Raiders will need to find a way to close that gap.
Woodcreek took their victory against Rio Americano in their previous matchup on April 7th by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Timberwolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
