Baseball Recap: Hammond Takes a Loss

Hammond fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Ponchatoula on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Green Wave by a score of 2-1. The Tornadoes have struggled against the Green Wave recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Hammond saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reid Hoover, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Hammond's defeat dropped their record down to 5-23. As for Ponchatoula, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.

While Hammond had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
