Football Recap: Azle Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Azle had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-7 to make it eight. They took a blow against the Aledo Bearcats, falling 73-0. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, the Hornets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Derrek Vowell threw for 34 yards on five of 17 attempts. Brayden Combs was his top target, picking up 30 receiving yards. On the ground, King Stephens rushed for 139 yards.

As for Aledo, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 47.3 points this season.

Lincoln Tubbs went supernova, throwing for 293 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. Those five passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Winkfield, who rushed for 79 yards and three TDs on only eight carries.

Azle has already played their next game, a 59-14 loss against Richland on the 7th. As for Aledo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 77-0 victory against Denton on the 6th.
