Basketball Recap: Deweyville Comes Up Short

Deweyville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 76-37 loss at the hands of the Big Sandy Wildcats. If the Pirates were looking for revenge after losing 74-38 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Deweyville saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kamen Collins posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Slone, who had seven points.

Deweyville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Big Sandy, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-12.

Deweyville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 40-31 loss against Danbury on the 28th. Big Sandy has also already played their next matchup, a 49-41 defeat against Sabine Pass on the 25th.
