Soccer Recap: Middletown Comes Up Short

Middletown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Middletown of the 6-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Middletown's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Newburgh Free Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Middletown didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Eldred on the 22nd. As for Newburgh Free Academy, they will be playing at home against Monroe-Woodbury at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
