Softball Recap: Ellington Picks Up 15th Straight Win on the Road

Ellington had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Bristol Eastern on Thursday. The Knights blew past the Lancers 8-0. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

Camryn Fisher made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run.

In other batting news, Tyla Gambacorta was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Madison Havener was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Ellington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bristol Eastern only posted a batting average of .045.

Ellington pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Bristol Eastern, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-3.

Ellington didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-0 win against Rockville on the 10th. Bristol Eastern has also already played their next contest (against Northwest Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
