Baseball Game Preview: Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans vs. Mendon Unity Mustangs

The Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Mendon Unity Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Bushnell-Prairie City has struggled recently with 21 losses in a row, while Mendon Unity will arrive with three straight victories.

Bushnell-Prairie City might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 17-1 to Canton, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Bushnell-Prairie City saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Palm, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Mendon Unity came out on top against Biggsville West Central on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fourth inning. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Heat. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Simon Rabe was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Ethan Triplett also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Bushnell-Prairie City's defeat dropped their record down to 0-20. As for Mendon Unity, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Bushnell-Prairie City came up short against Mendon Unity in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 15-12. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
