Basketball Game Preview: Topeka Trojans vs. Emporia Spartans

The Topeka Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Emporia Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Topeka knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Emporia likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Topeka lost to Junction City on the road by a 81-65 margin. The Trojans have struggled against the Bluejays recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Emporia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Washburn Rural, falling 65-39. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Blues are ranked 19th).

Emporia's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Topeka, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-16-1.

Topeka suffered a grim 65-43 defeat to Emporia when the teams last played on February 4th. Can Topeka avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
