Baseball Recap: Lake Belton Beats White for Their Third Straight Win

Lake Belton had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the White Longhorns on Saturday. The win was nothing new for the Broncos as they're now sitting on three straight.

Lake Belton got a great performance from Maverik Maddux as he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Maddux has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lake Belton let RJ Hunt and Landon Willey run wild. Hunt went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Willey went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Willey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zavian Rodriguez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Lake Belton's victory bumped their record up to 24-8-3. As for White, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-19 record this season.

Lake Belton will square off against Melissa on Saturday. White does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
