Basketball Recap: St. Thomas More Sabers vs. Hoopeston Cornjerkers

St. Thomas More was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Hoopeston Cornjerkers and fell 48-15. The Sabers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cornjerkers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Hoopeston got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Claire Dixon out in front who posted 11 points in addition to six assists and three steals. That's the most assists Dixon has posted since back in December of 2024. Maddie Barnes was another key player, putting up 12 points and five boards.

St. Thomas More's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Hoopeston, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

St. Thomas More will venture away from home to challenge Rantoul at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
