Basketball Recap: Taylor Allderdice Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Trey Schachter and Lukas Stead

Taylor Allderdice managed to keep up with McDowell until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Taylor Allderdice Dragons came up short against the McDowell Trojans, falling 77-56. The defeat continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost three in a row.

Lukas Stead and Trey Schachter certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Stead went 8 for 11 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds, while Schachter went 5 of 10 on his way to 16 points. The dominant performance gave Schachter a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Zuckerbraun, who posted five points and seven assists.

Taylor Allderdice's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for McDowell, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taylor Allderdice will head out to square off against Obama Academy of International Studies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Taylor Allderdice knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Obama Academy of International Studies likes a good challenge. As for McDowell, they will venture away from home to face off against Girard at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
