Baseball Recap: Chouteau-Mazie Find Success

Chouteau-Mazie won the last time they faced Afton and things went their way on Friday too. Chouteau-Mazie walked away with a 9-5 victory over Afton. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Seth Meyers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, Chouteau-Mazie let Lucas Grossman and JR Newton run wild. Grossman scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Newton scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Newton has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Brody Garcie also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Chouteau-Mazie's record is now 5-9. As for Afton, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

Coming up, Chouteau-Mazie will venture away from home to face off against Porter at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Porter will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Chouteau-Mazie surely won't give up without a fight. As for Afton, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Bluejacket at 4:00 p.m. Afton is facing Bluejacket at the right time seeing as Bluejacket is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
