Basketball Recap: Kelliher/Northome Takes a Loss

After flying high against Blackduck last Friday, Kelliher/Northome came back down to earth. The Kelliher/Northome Mustangs took a 91-84 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Lake Warriors on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost six in a row.

Red Lake got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Kingbird out in front who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 12 boards. Kingbird is becoming a predictor of Red Lake's success: when he posts at least ten rebounds the team is 7-3 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Austin Perkins, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards.

Kelliher/Northome now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Red Lake, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-7.

Kelliher/Northome didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 94-91 victory against Hill City on the 4th. As for Red Lake, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 112-40 loss against Cherry on the 7th.
