Softball Game Preview: Paxton-Buckley-Loda Panthers vs. Centennial Chargers

The Paxton-Buckley-Loda Panthers will square off against the Centennial Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Paxton-Buckley-Loda and four for Centennial.

Paxton-Buckley-Loda came up short against Prairie Central on Monday, falling 12-1.

Hallee Johnson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Meanwhile, Centennial fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Danville on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-2.

Zoe Goodreau put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over nine innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Goodreau was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one triple and one RBI.

Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.

Paxton-Buckley-Loda suffered a grim 23-0 defeat to Centennial in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
