Vinton County and Athens are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Vikings will square off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Vinton County's offense. They came up short against Wellston on Tuesday, falling 6-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Vikings were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Athens made sure to put some runs up on the board against Philo on Saturday. The Bulldogs won by a run and slipped past the Electrics 15-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since March 25, 2024.

Athens is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Vinton County, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Vinton County couldn't quite get it done against Athens in their previous matchup on April 2nd as they fell 7-4. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
