Doherty Memorial is a perfect 3-0 against Bay Path RVT since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Highlanders will head out on the road to challenge the Minutemen at 3:30 p.m. Doherty Memorial will be strutting in after a victory while Bay Path RVT will be coming in after a defeat.
Doherty Memorial is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past South 14-0 on Thursday. Considering the Highlanders have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Hannah Kursonis was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julia Grant, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Isabella LLanos was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Doherty Memorial lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Bay Path RVT suffered their biggest loss since April 1st on Thursday. They lost 18-0 to Tantasqua Regional. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, the Minutemen's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Bay Path RVT saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Savannah Steiner, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Doherty Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bay Path RVT, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Doherty Memorial hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Bay Path RVT struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Doherty Memorial came out on top in a nail-biter against Bay Path RVT in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highlanders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
