Oak Mountain took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 38-28 win over the Briarwood Christian Lions. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Will O'Dell had a dynamite game for Oak Mountain, rushing for 194 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also throwing for 208 yards while completing 80.8% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Marty Myricks, who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns.
Myricks wasn't the only one working in the rushing yards department: Oak Mountain was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 287 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2023.
