Basketball Game Preview: Patrick Henry Academy Patriots vs. Cathedral Academy Generals

The Patrick Henry Academy Patriots are taking a road trip to take on the Cathedral Academy Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Cathedral Academy took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Patrick Henry Academy, who comes in off a win.

Patrick Henry Academy is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Andrew Jackson Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Patrick Henry Academy came out on top against Andrew Jackson Academy by a score of 43-31 on Saturday.

Patrick Henry Academy had a senior duo take command as Lillian Lucas posted 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals and Laney Futch dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. Futch has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Saquoia Sexton, who had seven points.

Patrick Henry Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Cathedral Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against Lugoff-Elgin, falling 50-15.

Despite the defeat, Cathedral Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Raven Williams put up eight points.

Patrick Henry Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Cathedral Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Patrick Henry Academy might still be hurting after the 45-22 defeat they got from Cathedral Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Patrick Henry Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
