Basketball Game Preview: Georgetown Bulldogs vs. Dillon Wildcats

Georgetown hasn't had much luck against Dillon recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Georgetown Bulldogs will host the Dillon Wildcats at 6:00 p.m.

Georgetown is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Friday. They took a blow against Loris, falling 67-24. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Lions are ranked 62nd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dillon). They blew past Marlboro County 79-45 on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on four straight.

Georgetown better focus on containing Treasure Davis and Khwnylahi Mckinnon as the pair were huge in Dillon's win. Davis went 13 of 19 en route to 29 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals, while Mckinnon went 7 for 11 on her way to 17 points along with eight assists and eight boards. Those eight assists gave Mckinnon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ayonna Lester, who posted 11 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Dillon was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Dillon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Georgetown, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

Georgetown took a serious blow against Dillon in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 75-19. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Georgetown was down 38-13.
