Softball Recap: Waupaca Comes Up Short

Waupaca had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 4-18 to make it four. They came up short against the Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds, falling 16-6. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunderbirds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

L Cinchy made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. H Bechard was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

As for Iola-Scandinavia, they now have a winning record of 10-9. The result was nothing new for the Thunderbirds, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On Iola-Scandinavia's side, the team relied heavily on Maggie Maus, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those two hits gave Maus a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Munoz, who went 2-for-4 with four runs.

Iola-Scandinavia has already played their next contest, a 13-3 loss against Marathon on the 17th. Hopefully Waupaca paid attention to the Thunderbirds' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Thunderbirds at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
