Football Game Preview: Pine Tree Pirates vs. Mabank Panthers

The Pine Tree Pirates will face off against the Mabank Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Pine Tree is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Kilgore on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Pirates had to suffer through a 35-7 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. The matchup marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Mabank's offense. They were dealt a 47-0 loss at the hands of Canton last Friday. Having soared to a lofty 36 points in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Mabank's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Pine Tree, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything came up roses for Pine Tree against Mabank in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 38-6 win. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
