Preview: Josey Eagles vs. Putnam County War Eagles
Josey is 1-6 against Putnam County since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Josey Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Putnam County War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Josey is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Josey was beaten by Thomson 83-41. Josey has struggled against Thomson recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, even though Glenn Hills scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, Putnam County still came out on top. Putnam County was the clear victor by a 78-56 margin over Glenn Hills. Given Putnam County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while Glenn Hills is ranked 470th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Landon Bonner was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with five assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Putnam County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jmari Greene, who scored 15 points.
Josey's loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Putnam County, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.
Josey came up short against Putnam County when the teams last played back in January, falling 67-54. Can Josey avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
