Basketball Recap: Highland Drops Highest Score of Season Against Colton

Highland hadn't done well against Colton recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Highland Huskies strolled past the Colton Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 55-39. The Huskies' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Highland was led to victory by Kylee Beck and Hailey Click. Beck went 6 of 11 en route to 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Click posted 17 points and five steals. Click has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sheradyn Stamper, who had ten points and six steals.

Highland has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points per game. As for Colton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

The future could be bright for both Highland and Colton: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Highland will try to hand Clearwater Valley their fifth-straight loss when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Meanwhile, Colton will try to hand St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse their sixth-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
