Basketball Recap: Gallatin Takes a Loss

Gallatin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a blow against the Beech Buccaneers, falling 53-26. While losing is never fun, the Green Wave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 120th).

Beech's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tia Nix, who posted 13 points along with five assists and three steals. What's more, Nix also posted a 57% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Marykate Long was another key player, going 6 for 12 to rack up 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks.

Gallatin's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Beech, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.

Gallatin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-28 win against Riverdale on the 7th. As for Beech, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 41-39 loss against Green Hill on the 7th.
