Basketball Recap: Omaha Westside Skates Past Omaha South with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Omaha Westside's strategy against Omaha South on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Omaha Westside Warriors blew the Omaha South Packers out of the water with a 63-18 final score. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-14.

Omaha Westside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayah Freeman, who posted 12 points. The dominant performance gave Freeman a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendyl Davis, who had nine points and seven rebounds.

Omaha Westside was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha South only posted one assist.

Despite the loss, Omaha South saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aubrey Harper almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. That was a full 55.6% of Omaha South's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Omaha Westside has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Omaha South, they dropped their record down to 2-15 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Omaha Westside will be playing in front of their home fans against Omaha North at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Omaha South, they will welcome Lincoln Northeast at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Northeast has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
