Softball Recap: Pontiac's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Pontiac couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Providence Catholic Celtics by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The Indians' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Elena Krause was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 8.2 innings while giving up six earned runs off ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Krause wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Hinz, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Pontiac's loss dropped their record down to 26-10. As for Providence Catholic, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 25-11.

As of now, neither Pontiac nor the Celtics have any future games scheduled.
