Basketball Game Preview: Minersville Battlin' Miners vs. Nativity BVM Green Wave

The Minersville Battlin' Miners will face off against the Nativity BVM Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Minersville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Nativity BVM likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Minersville blew past Weatherly, posting a 76-42 win. The Battlin' Miners have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Shazier Bethea, who went 7 for 13 to rack up 25 points and five boards. His morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 22 points. Another player making a difference was Bradley Kostishak, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Nativity BVM didn't have quite enough to beat Central Mountain on Friday and fell 84-81. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (60), the Green Wave still had to take the loss.

Minersville is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.7 points. As for Nativity BVM, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8.

Everything came up roses for Minersville against Nativity BVM in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 73-43 victory. In that game, Minersville amassed a halftime lead of 47-21, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
