Baseball Recap: Slater Wildcats vs. Pilot Grove Tigers

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Slater). They had just enough and edged out the Pilot Grove Tigers 7-6 on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Tristen Klasing made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Slater's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

In other pitching news, Logan Boggs looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

Back at the plate, Tytan Wiseman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Chase Hemeyer also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Slater picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-5. As for Pilot Grove, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
