            Softball Recap: Myrtle Hawks vs. West Union Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            Myrtle extended their postseason success on Friday against West Union. They had just enough and edged out the Eagles  3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Hawks have posted  since May 9, 2024.
 Brooklyn Streich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned runs on four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive appearances.

 At the plate,  Ally Murphy was  excellent,  going 2-for-3 with two  doubles and two  RBI. Those  two  doubles gave  her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Shelby Thompson, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with two  runs.
Myrtle has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-6 record  this season. The  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for West Union, their defeat  ended  an  11-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 21-11.
 Coming up, Myrtle will square off against Stringer at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Red Devils will roll in looking for their  19th straight  victory, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight. West Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
