Volleyball Game Preview: Belleville West Maroons vs. Edwardsville Tigers

Belleville West is 2-8 against Edwardsville since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Maroons will challenge the Tigers at 6:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Belleville West came up short against Collinsville and fell 2-0. The Maroons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Belleville West was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-17.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Edwardsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against Alton by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Redbirds: they've now won four in a row.

Edwardsville easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-14.

Edwardsville's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Belleville West, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Belleville West beat Edwardsville 2-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Maroons since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
