Volleyball Recap: Catholic Central Starts Season with Victory Against Whitewater

Catholic Central had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the Whitewater Whippets 2-1. This was payback for the Hilltoppers, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Catholic Central got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 21-25, 15-12.

Catholic Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isabella Arrieta out in front who had five kills and two aces. Those two aces gave Arrieta a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karley Loos, who had 12 kills and one block.

Coincidentally, Catholic Central and Whitewater will both be playing Stoughton the next time they take the court. The Hilltoppers will head out to face the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Whippets will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
