Basketball Recap: Appomattox County Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Appomattox County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Rustburg Red Devils by a score of 48-40 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Red Devils back in December of 2024, they had to take a 39-28 defeat.

Rustburg lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Samiyah Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards. Haven Grinstead was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Appomattox County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for Rustburg, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Appomattox County and Cumberland will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. As for Rustburg, they will face off against Glass at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
