Basketball Game Preview: Millikan Rams vs. Lakewood Lancers

The Millikan Rams will square off against the Lakewood Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Millikan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.8 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Millikan didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Woodrow Wilson, but they still walked away with a 67-63 victory. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while the Bruins are ranked 393rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Millikan relied on the efforts of Tariq Bridges, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards, and Joseph Wicker, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 22 points. The dominant performance gave Bridges a new career-high in rebounds. Jeremiah Hunt was another key player, putting up ten points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Lakewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 66-50 bruising from Long Beach Poly.

Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Millikan, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-10.

Millikan barely slipped by Lakewood in their previous matchup on January 8th, winning 77-76. Does Millikan have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lakewood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
