Basketball Recap: East Lake Takes a Loss

East Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 54-14 loss at the hands of the Countryside Cougars. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-12.

It was another big night for Julia Smith, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 19 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals for Countryside. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Wright, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 13 points in addition to seven steals and six assists.

East Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Countryside, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Lake will challenge Palm Harbor University at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Countryside, they will face off against Seminole at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
